Buying Guide

Liebherr's quietest refrigerator is the IRB5160, a fully integrated column with BioFresh, at 32 dB(A). Its loudest are the 36 inch freestanding CS 2090G, CS 2092G and CBS 2092G, at 42. All 60 current US household models carry a figure, though you have to open the spec sheet to find most of them: each sheet has a "Sound rating dB(A)" row, footnoted "Noise output" "according to EN 60704-3", while only 16 of the 60 product pages show a "Noise level" row. We read them all on October 10, 2026.

This page lists all 60, quietest first, grouped by type and by how they install: fridge-freezers, refrigerators without a freezer, freezers, undercounter models and wine fridges. Liebherr's figure is sound power, and most other brands print a bare dB, so we do not rank Liebherr against other brands here. For the wider field, see our quietest refrigerators guide.

Our picks are listed above, with full specifications for each.

How Liebherr rates noise

Every current household spec sheet on Liebherr's US site, all 60, carries the same row: "Sound rating dB(A)", with a footnote that reads "Noise output" "according to EN 60704-3". EN 60704-3 is the part of the European household appliance noise standard that covers how declared noise emission values are determined and verified, and the value it declares is the A-weighted sound power level: the total sound the appliance radiates, not the level at any one spot in the room.

Liebherr's household sheets do not use the words sound power, but its US sheet for the BCv 1103, a countertop cooler from its professional range, does. It footnotes that cooler's 49 dB(A) as "Noise level", "sound power re 1pW", "according to IEC 60704-2-14", the part of the same standard written for refrigerators and freezers.

What the household sheets do not state is the condition behind the figure: no operating mode, no room temperature and no noise class. Of the 60 sheets, 45 are dated (08/2026). The UR3750's current sheet is dated (09/2026), and lists the same 34 as the version before it. The CS 2090G, CS 2092G and ICB5160IM sheets say October, 2025, and 11 carry no date, among them the IC5110IM, the HW 4800, five HC and HCB models and four Monolith models.

The product pages are less consistent. Sixteen of the 60 show a "Noise level" row in dB, with no standard, and on 15 of them it matches the sheet. The HW 4800 wine fridge is the exception: its page says "Noise level 35 dB" and its sheet "Sound rating dB(A)" 36. We use the sheet throughout, because it is the figure Liebherr ties to a standard.

Why you cannot line Liebherr up against other brands

Sound pressure is what a microphone, or your ear, picks up at one spot, and it falls as you move away. Sound power is the total the appliance gives off, and for the same refrigerator it is a higher number than the sound pressure a few feet away. Most refrigerator makers that publish a figure in the US print a bare dB or dBA without saying which quantity it is or how it was measured. A Liebherr 33 and another brand's 33 dB are therefore different claims, and neither tells you which refrigerator is quieter. Our sound power vs sound pressure explainer walks through the difference, and why you cannot compare dB ratings across brands covers the rest.

Within Liebherr the comparison is fair: every figure on this page comes from the same kind of sheet, under the same standard.

Fridge-freezers, quietest first

Liebherr's US site lists 31 combination models: 30 fridge-freezers and one freezer with a wine compartment. Compare them within each group.

Freestanding

  • 33 dB(A): SC5781, 24 inch, EasyFresh, 12.8 cubic feet. SCB5790IM, 24 inch, BioFresh Professional and a plumbed IceMaker.
  • 35: C5740IM, 24 inch. SC7751, CB7790IM and SCB7760IM, 30 inch. All four are 79 5/16 inches tall.
  • 36: C7620, 30 inch, 73 inches tall. SC7520 and SC7541IM, 30 inch, 65 3/16 inches tall.
  • 37: SW5291, 24 inch, which pairs a NoFrost freezer with a 44 bottle wine compartment instead of a fridge.
  • 39: the five 36 inch counter depth French door models: FDBI36S and FDBC36S (Plus series), FDBHI36S and FDBHC36S (Prime), and FDE36S (Pure). The FDBC36S and FDBHC36S have a water and ice dispenser, the FDBI36S and FDBHI36S an InfinitySpring water dispenser, and the FDE36S neither.
  • 42: CS 2090G and CS 2092G, and the CBS 2092G with BioFresh, all 36 inch.

Fully integrated

  • 34 dB(A): IC5110IM, with EasyFresh, and ICB5160IM, with BioFresh, for a 22 inch niche about 70 inches high.
  • 39: HC 1570G, HC 1580G, HC 1581G and HCB 1590G, 30 inch. HC 2090G, HC 2091G, HC 2092G, HCB 2090G, HCB 2091G and HCB 2092G, 36 inch. All for a niche 80 to 81 5/8 inches high.
  • 40: MCB 3652, the 36 inch Monolith French door, for an 84 inch niche.

Refrigerators without a freezer

  • 32 dB(A): IRB5160, fully integrated, 22 inch niche, with an InfinitySpring water dispenser.
  • 33: IRBP5170, fully integrated, 22 inch niche, with five OpenStage glass drawers.
  • 34: SRB5290, freestanding, 24 inch, with BioFresh Professional.
  • 39: the Monolith columns, MRB 2410 (24 inch), MRB 3010 (30 inch) and MRB 3600 (36 inch), fully integrated for an 84 inch niche.

Freezers

  • 34 dB(A): SF5291, freestanding, 24 inch, with an IceTower ice maker. It is the freezer Liebherr sells to stand beside the SRB5290.
  • 35: SIF5181, fully integrated, 22 inch niche, with a plumbed IceMaker. It pairs with the IRB5160.
  • 36: UF3651, undercounter, ADA height, panel ready.
  • 37: Monolith MF 2461 (24 inch) and MF 3661 (36 inch).
  • 39: Monolith MF 1851 (18 inch) and MF 3051 (30 inch).

Undercounter refrigerators and beverage centers

These are 24 inch wide units for a cabinet opening, 33 13/16 inches high, or 32 3/16 inches for the ADA height models that fit counters 32 to 34 inches high. Liebherr's sheets say each one is enclosed by a kitchen cabinet that "must provide suitable ventilation to ensure proper appliance operation". For other brands' undercounter models, see our undercounter refrigerator guide.

  • 34 dB(A): UR3750, single door refrigerator, 4.7 cubic feet. URD3753, two drawers with independent zones. URP3653, one pull-out drawer, ADA height. UBC3760, panel ready beverage center with a glass cut-out. UBCgb3730, beverage center with a black glass door.
  • 35: UR3650, single door refrigerator, ADA height, 4.4 cubic feet.

The undercounter freezer, the UF3651 at 36, and the undercounter wine fridges, the UW3710 and UW3720 at 34, are in their own groups.

Wine fridges

  • 34 dB(A): UW3710 (one zone, 44 bottles) and UW3720 (two zones, 38 bottles), undercounter, panel ready with glass.
  • 35: W5270 (two zones, 106 bottles, 24 inch) and Wgb7470 (three zones, 145 bottles, 27 3/8 inch), freestanding.
  • 36: the built-in HWgb 1803 (18 bottles, for a niche about 17 3/4 inches high), HW 4800 (48 bottles, 48 inches high) and HW 8000 (80 bottles, 69 11/16 inches high), all about 22 inches wide. The Monolith MW 1810 (75 bottles, 18 inch) and MW 2410 (96 bottles, 24 inch) list the same 36.
  • 37: W5250 (two zones, 155 bottles on fixed wooden racks), freestanding, and the SW5291 freezer and wine combination above.

The HW 4800's product page says 35; its sheet, which we use, says 36. Our wine fridge guide and beverage refrigerator guide cover other brands.

Side-by-side pairs

Liebherr also lists six side-by-side pairs, each made of two appliances on this page: the SC5781 with the SCB5790IM, the SC7751 with the SCB7760IM, the SC7541IM with the SC7520, the SRB5290 with either the SF5291 or the SW5291, and the fully integrated IRB5160 with the SIF5181. We rank the single appliances, each on its own sheet, not the pairs.

The pair sheets, where dated, say September, 2025, and print one figure for two appliances. The SC5781, SC7751 and SC7541IM pairs list 33, 35 and 36, each footnoted as "based on a controlled environment reading" rather than EN 60704-3. Both SRB5290 pairs list 35, although the SF5291 and the SRB5290 each list 34 on their own sheets. The IRB5160 and SIF5181 pair has no sheet of its own.

Why the 36 inch models rate higher

Size tracks the figure more closely than anything else. Outside the Monolith line, the full height refrigerators, freezers and fridge-freezers for a 22 or 24 inch space list 32 to 35; the SW5291, which swaps the fridge for a wine compartment, lists 37. The 30 inch freestanding fridge-freezers list 35 or 36. Every 36 inch refrigerator and fridge-freezer lists 39 or more, while the 36 inch Monolith freezer, the MF 3661, lists 37.

Installation alone does not decide it. At 36 inches, the fully integrated HC 2090G lists 39 and the freestanding CS 2090G 42, and their sheets give both the same 13.5 cubic foot refrigerator and 6.0 cubic foot freezer. The BioFresh pair, the HCB 2092G and CBS 2092G, splits the same way, 39 against 42. In the narrower sizes it runs the other way: the 24 inch freestanding SC5781 lists 33 and the IC5110IM, built into a 22 inch niche, 34.

Where Liebherr sells the same appliance with a different door, hinge or dispenser, the figure stays the same. The HC 2090G, HC 2091G and HC 2092G, which differ in their hinges, all list 39. The five French doors list 39 with or without a dispenser, and the panel ready UBC3760 and glass door UBCgb3730 both list 34.

Series names do not sort the figures either. Liebherr's US pages put many models in a Pure, Plus, Prime or Peak series, but the Prime IRB5160 lists 32 and its Peak sibling, the IRBP5170, 33; the Peak SW5291 lists 37; and the Pure IC5110IM and the Prime ICB5160IM both list 34. Nor does Liebherr's claim that noise levels are kept to a minimum by "virtually silent, speed-controlled" compressors, which appears on sheets from the 32 dB(A) IRB5160 to the 39 dB(A) MRB 2410. Liebherr does not say which parts make the difference, and we would not credit any one of them.

What the user guides say about noise

Liebherr's newer user guides, for models such as the IRB5160, SF5291, SC5781, W5270 and the French doors, share an operating noises section. The IRB5160 guide says "The appliance makes noises while in operation", that at less cooling output "The volume is lower", and that at a higher cooling output "The volume is higher", giving activated functions, a running fan, freshly stored food, a warm room and a door left open as examples. The functions that raise the output say so too: with SuperCool, SuperFrost or PartyMode on, and with the IceMaker running on models that have one, "the operating noise of the appliance may be temporarily louder". The guides list bubbling, hissing, humming, whirring and clicking as normal noises, and vibration as an "Error noise" from an unsuitable installation, fixed by leveling the appliance.

So read every rating here as the appliance settled and running normally, not the hour after you load it with warm groceries. None of Liebherr's documents says which state the figure describes.

Alarms you can turn down

A quiet refrigerator still beeps. On the newer models, the door alarm is on at delivery and you can set how long the door may stay open before it sounds; the IRB5160, UR3750 and UW3720 guides list 1, 2 or 3 minutes, or Off. The W5270 and Wgb7470 guide adds an Alarm Sound setting that "enables all alarm sounds, such as the door alarm, to be switched on and off". The older manual for the 30 and 36 inch HC models is less flexible: its audible door alarm sounds when the door "has been left open for longer than about 180 seconds", and touching the alarm icon switches it off.

How much quieter 32 dB(A) is than 42

The decibel scale is logarithmic, and roughly every 10 dB sounds twice as loud. Because every figure here comes from the same standard, the 10 dB(A) between the IRB5160 and the CS 2090G is a fair comparison within the brand: on paper, the CS 2090G would sound about twice as loud. One or two dB(A), the gap between most neighbors on this page, is hard to hear in a kitchen. Our decibel chart puts everyday sounds on the same scale; those are mostly sound pressure levels, so use it for a sense of the scale rather than to place a Liebherr sound power figure on it.

Prices and where we got them

Liebherr shows no US prices. Every product page we checked on October 10, 2026 sends buyers to "Find a sales partner now", so this page has none. Dealers may list a model by its US name, such as IRB5160, or by Liebherr's internal name, IRBhi 5160, which is also in the product page address, so check both against the spec sheet before you buy.

How we chose

We read Liebherr's US product listings on October 10, 2026, opened all 60 household product pages and their spec sheets, and recorded each sheet's "Sound rating dB(A)" with its footnote and date, and any "Noise level" row on the page. We read the user guides for the picks. We left out the professional and laboratory appliances that Liebherr's US site lists separately, and the side-by-side pairs, whose halves are listed one by one.

Every figure here is Liebherr's own, quoted from its US spec sheets and product pages, and Liebherr declares it under EN 60704-3, as sound power, without naming the operating state. We did not measure any of these appliances ourselves.

Common questions

How loud is a Liebherr refrigerator in decibels?

Liebherr's US spec sheets list every current refrigerator, freezer, wine fridge and beverage center between 32 and 42 dB(A), declared under EN 60704-3, which is sound power. Outside the Monolith line and the wine models, the full height ones for a 22 or 24 inch space list 32 to 35; the 30 inch freestanding fridge-freezers list 35 or 36, and the 36 inch refrigerators and fridge-freezers 39 to 42. Undercounter models list 34 to 36, and wine fridges 34 to 37.

What is the quietest Liebherr refrigerator?

The IRB5160, a fully integrated column refrigerator with BioFresh and no freezer, lists 32 dB(A), the lowest of the 60 current US models. For a fridge-freezer, the freestanding SC5781 and SCB5790IM list 33, and the fully integrated IC5110IM and ICB5160IM list 34.

What does "Sound rating dB(A)" mean on a Liebherr spec sheet?

It is Liebherr's declared noise figure, footnoted "Noise output" "according to EN 60704-3". That standard sets out how a household appliance's declared noise emission is determined and verified, and the value it declares is sound power: the total sound the appliance gives off, not the level at your ear. Liebherr's sheet for its professional BCv 1103 cooler spells the quantity out as "sound power re 1pW".

Can I compare a Liebherr 33 with another brand's 33 dB?

No. Liebherr's figure is sound power under a named standard, while most refrigerator makers print a bare dB or dBA with no standard or test condition. The two are different claims, so a Liebherr 33 and another brand's 33 do not tell you which refrigerator is quieter. Compare Liebherr models with each other.

Why does the Liebherr product page show no noise figure, or a different one?

Only 16 of the 60 current US product pages have a "Noise level" row, in dB with no standard, and it matches the spec sheet on 15 of them. The exception is the HW 4800 wine fridge, whose page says "Noise level 35 dB" while its sheet lists "Sound rating dB(A)" 36. Use the spec sheet, which carries the standard.

Is a built-in Liebherr quieter than a freestanding one?

Not as a rule. At 36 inches, the fully integrated HC 2090G lists 39 and the freestanding CS 2090G, with the same capacity on its sheet, lists 42. In the narrower sizes it goes the other way: the 24 inch freestanding SC5781 lists 33 and the IC5110IM, built into a 22 inch niche, 34. Size and model line track the figure more closely than installation does.

What is the quietest Liebherr freezer or wine fridge?

The freestanding SF5291 freezer lists 34 dB(A), ahead of the integrated SIF5181 at 35, the UF3651 undercounter freezer at 36 and the Monolith freezers at 37 or 39. For wine, the undercounter UW3710 and UW3720 list 34, the freestanding W5270 and Wgb7470 35, the built-in HW and Monolith wine models 36, and the W5250 37.

Does SuperCool make a Liebherr louder?

Liebherr says it can. Its user guides say that with SuperCool, SuperFrost or PartyMode active "the operating noise of the appliance may be temporarily louder", and that the volume is lower at less cooling output and higher at a higher one. The rated figure does not say which state it describes.

Manufacturer pages and manuals for every product

Founder and editor

I founded QuietSpecs after running a product review blog, and I built it around the spec that is hardest to pin down. With noise, makers tend to quote the quietest setting they can find, or nothing at all. So I read the spec sheets, manuals and certification directories, quote each figure with the setting it describes, and say so plainly when a maker publishes none. I do not test products or measure decibels, and no brand pays for a place in a guide.
