Appliance noise data, as the makers published it

This is every noise figure in our catalog: 3,472 products from 517 brands across 241 product types, from dishwashers and window air conditioners to generators, power tools and PC fans. Each row keeps the maker's own wording, the page or document it came from and the date we checked it. We do not measure anything; the figures are the makers'.

How to cite this data

Writing about appliance noise? Quote any row with a link to this page, or to the guide named in its row. A citation that works in print:

QuietSpecs. "Appliance noise data." www.quietspecs.com/data, updated November 4, 2026.

For a figure you plan to publish, open the row's source_url as well: makers change their pages, and the check date tells you how fresh our reading is.

Can two figures in the file be compared?

Only when they describe the same thing. A dishwasher's plain dBA rating, a heat pump's sound power in dB(A) re 1 pW and a bath fan's sones are different quantities, and a figure taken at 1 meter differs from one taken at 7 meters. Read the noise_statement before comparing: it keeps each maker's units, distance, speed and test standard where the maker gave them, and says when the maker gave none.

Maximums (“under 45 dB”), floors (“as low as 38 dB”) and relative claims (“50% quieter”) are kept as worded, and our guides never rank them. Our explainers on dBA, sound power and sound pressure and sones cover the differences.

What is in each column?

One row per product. 1,734 rows carry a guide's short noise summary, and 2,063 carry a maker list price.

Where do the figures come from?

From the makers only: US product pages, spec sheets, owner's manuals and, for tools sold worldwide, EU manuals that name the US model number. Retailer listings, reviews and our own ears never count. Every product in the file is covered by a published guide, and each guide's method section says how its figures were checked.
