The quietest panel-ready dishwashers: fully integrated 24 inch models ranked by maker figures
A custom panel hides the dishwasher, its display and its noise cues. We ranked panel-ready 24 inch models from Bosch, Miele, Thermador, Fisher & Paykel, SKS and GE on like-for-like maker figures, with panel weight limits, floor lights and prices. Panels are sold separately.

Countertop dishwashers cluster at 52 dB, and no maker says how it measured. What the claims are worth, which machines sit lowest on paper, and which suit a rental with no plumbing.

The quietest 18 inch dishwashers for an apartment
Bosch's 800 Series lists 44 dBA, the lowest 18 inch figure we found. See the compact built-ins ranked dBA against dBA, their delay timers and run times, which let you mute the beeps, and which ones can use the existing outlet under a rental's sink.

Bosch dishwasher decibels chart, 38 to 50 dBA across five series
The pocket handle Benchmark SHP9PCM5N and 500 Series SHP95CM5N share Bosch's lowest Silence Level, 38 dBA, with no cycle named; both showed out of stock at Bosch on October 3, 2026, leaving the 39 dBA bar handle Benchmark as the quietest to order. Bosch's 45 US models reach 50 dBA, mostly falling as the series climbs.

How many decibels is a Miele dishwasher? 39 to 44 dB(A) re 1 pW
Four G 7000 models share Miele's lowest rating, 39 dB(A) re 1 pW, sound power measured on the Normal program with 16 place settings; the panel ready G 7766 SCVi AutoDos is the lowest priced at $2,999 and lists Extra Quiet at 37. Miele's 22 US household models carry only three ratings: 39, 42 or 44.

Samsung dishwasher decibel level: why Extra Quiet is the loudest
Six Samsung dishwashers list 38 dBA, as a "Silence Rating" or a "Noise Level", with no cycle named, and the Bespoke DW90F89T0USRAA was the lowest priced of them on October 4, 2026, at $899 on sale. Samsung's quiet badges run backwards: "Extra Quiet" marks its 51 and 53 dBA hybrid tub models.

Which GE dishwasher is the quietest? The 39 dBA GE Profile PDT795
The GE Profile PDT795SYVFS lists "Quiet Package: 39 dBA", no cycle named, the lowest of 79 GE and GE Profile dishwashers GE was selling on October 4, 2026, and Café's CDT888P2VS1 lists the same 39. The panel ready Series 9 DW24UT4I2 lists "Noise emissions 42dBA" from $1,849, the lowest full size Fisher & Paykel figure, with no cycle named. Double DishDrawers reach 42 dBA too, but the double's label limits it to the top drawer running a standard cycle, so a drawer and a full size machine are never ranked together.

Thermador dishwasher dBA is set by series: 42, 44 or 48
The three Star Sapphire models list "Silence Level 42 dBA", Thermador's lowest, for "a signature cleaning cycle" Thermador never names; the panel ready DWHD661EPR is one of them, at a $2,499 recommended price. Sapphire lists 44 and Emerald 48, and neither the handle nor the panel changes a figure.

Quietest wine cellar cooling unit: six with a maker noise figure
Wine Guardian prints 47.9 dBA at 6 feet on the cellar side of its TTW01B Defender, and CellarPro gives its AH3500Si split 38 dbA on low, ducted. See which side, distance and fan speed every maker figure describes, and why no single unit can be crowned.

The quietest beverage refrigerators
Compressor beverage fridges carry maker figures from 32.3 dB to 55, but only Liebherr names a standard, and only Summit and Ca'Lefort say anything about how they measured. The lowest figure from each maker, built-in, freestanding and countertop, and why a cooler under a counter must vent at the front.

The quietest chest and upright freezers
Most freezer brands publish no noise figure at all, and GE says outright that it does not rate them. See the four brands that do, and what the numbers leave out.

The quietest chest freezers for a garage, basement or apartment
A chest freezer ends up in the garage, the basement, the laundry room or, with no other space, the living room. We grouped the maker noise figures by unit, then checked each room rating, alarm, levelling foot and clearance that decides how it sounds there.

The quietest upright freezers for holiday and bulk storage
An upright freezer for the holidays ends up in the kitchen, the laundry room, the basement or the garage. We grouped every maker noise figure we could verify by unit, then checked garage ratings, defrost noise, alarms, levelling and clearance room by room.

The quietest refrigerators
Liebherr prints a noise figure on every current US spec sheet, from 32 dB(A); Beko, Miele, Midea and Hisense print one on some models, and LG, Samsung, GE and Whirlpool on none. The quietest french door, bottom freezer, side by side and top freezer models by maker figures, and what to check for an open-plan kitchen.

The quietest French door refrigerators: 3-door, 4-door and counter-depth models with a published figure
Few French doors publish a maker noise figure: Hisense and Midea at 43, Miele at 44 as sound power, Liebherr at 39 and 40 on its spec sheets. We kept each kind of figure in its own lane, then read the manuals for the ice makers, dispensers, door alarms and compressor starts that a French door adds to the noise.

The quietest undercounter refrigerators, 24 and 15 inch
An undercounter fridge or beverage center runs a few feet from your seat at an island, bar or desk. Only Liebherr and Summit publish a figure for their 24 and 15 inch built-ins, so we ranked each against its own kind of number and read the manuals for the fan modes, alarms and lights.

Liebherr fridge noise level: 32 to 42 dB(A) under EN 60704-3
The IRB5160 column refrigerator is Liebherr's quietest at 32 dB(A), and the 36 inch CS 2090G its loudest at 42. Liebherr's US spec sheets declare a rating under EN 60704-3 for all 60 refrigerators, freezers, wine fridges and beverage centers it sells, though most product pages leave it out.

Bosch refrigerator decibels chart, 39 to 41 dBA on nine of 33 models
Nine current US Bosch refrigerators carry a maker noise figure: Maximum sound level 39 dBA on the four Benchmark built-in bottom freezers, 40 on the counter depth French doors and 41 on the 33 inch 100 Series. The other 24 models publish none, and the number appears only in the spec sheet PDFs, never on the page.

Miele refrigerator noise: 32 to 44 dB(A) re 1 pW on 31 of 44 models
Miele's quietest refrigerators are the built-in KS 7793 D column and the KU 7175 D drawers, both at 32 dB(A) re 1 pW on Miele's sound power scale. Miele's US data sheets rate 31 of its 44 current refrigerators and freezers, up to 44 on the KFNF 9959 iDE; the KFMC MasterCool models carry no rating.

The quietest range hood inserts and power packs, compared by airflow
An insert vanishes into your cabinetry, but its blower does not. We sorted 16 inserts and power packs into airflow bands, compared certified high-speed sones only within each band, and kept the self-rated ones in a group of their own.

The quietest island range hoods, ranked on certified sones
An island hood hangs in the middle of the room with no walls to help it, so it needs more airflow and runs louder. We ranked island hoods on HVI-certified sones at high speed, read off the step a 36-inch island needs, and covered ceiling ducts, remote blowers and capture area.

The quietest downdraft range hoods, ranked on certified sones at the speed you will use
A downdraft vent pops up behind the cooktop and pulls smoke down, so an island kitchen keeps its sight lines. We ranked every downdraft in the HVI directory on certified sones at high speed, which is the speed a downdraft actually needs, and checked each maker's blower, duct and remote-blower options.

The quietest under-cabinet range hoods, judged at the speed you cook on
An under-cabinet hood hangs at face height a couple of feet from the cook. We ranked 30 and 36-inch models on HVI-certified sones at high speed, then read off the step each cooktop needs, the duct behind it, ductless mode and make-up air limits.

The quietest wall-mount range hoods, judged at the speed you cook on
A wall chimney hood hangs over the range with nothing but a wall behind it. We ranked 30 and 36-inch pyramid, box and glass canopy hoods on HVI-certified sones, then read off the step your cooktop needs and covered the duct run, chimney kits, remote blowers and the 400 CFM make-up air line.

Are Zephyr range hoods quiet? HVI says 3.5 to 12 sones on high
The Valina 290 under-cabinet hood has the lowest certified high-speed rating of any current Zephyr: 3.5 sones at 260 CFM through a 6-inch round vertical duct, by HVI. Zephyr's own sheets print a range such as "1 - 6" sones with no speed attached, while HVI's high-speed figures for 50 Zephyr lines run up to 12.

The quietest microwaves: beeps, doors and hum
A microwave makes four different noises, and makers publish figures for almost none. Here are the models you can mute and the quietest doors and fans.

The quietest over-the-range microwaves, judged by the vent fan
An over-the-range microwave is also your range hood, and its vent fan is the loudest thing it does. We ranked models on HVI-certified sones at high and working speed, kept the one published dBA figure apart, and checked how to mute each one.

The quietest blenders, by published figure
Almost no home blender maker publishes a decibel figure. The declarations that exist come from commercial makers, written for EU machinery rules. Here is what Santos, Hamilton Beach Commercial and one enclosure brand actually print, and why the home brands print nothing.

The quietest coffee grinders
Most grinder brands publish no noise figure. Nine home burr grinders do, in three kinds that cannot share one ranking. The lowest of each kind, from Mahlkönig, Ascaso and Mazzer, what those figures leave out, and the household names that stay silent.

The quietest air fryers, and what their decibel claims actually say
No US air fryer maker publishes an A-weighted, measured noise figure. What they print are bare dB claims: under 48dB, 51dB, around 55dB, up to 65 dB. Here is who says what for Cosori, Typhur and Philips, which claims can sit side by side, and what the brands with no number say instead.

Quietest juicer: slow and centrifugal, on their makers' own figures
Santos measures its commercial #65 cold press juicer at 64 dB LAeq, loaded, 1 m away, the only juicer figure tied to a standard. For home slow juicers, AOBOSI claims under 45 dB and AMZCHEF under 55 dB with no condition, and Hurom's blog puts the H310 at roughly 53 dB. No home centrifugal juicer we read has a figure.

The quietest garbage disposals, judged on what the makers say
No maker publishes a decibel rating for a garbage disposal. Here is how to find a genuinely quiet one anyway, and the models worth buying.

InSinkErator noise claims, from "Standard Sound" to "80% quieter": what each tier means
InSinkErator publishes no decibel figures for its disposals, only tiered claims: "80% quieter than our Badger 5 disposal" at the top, then 75%, then 55%, then the Badger baseline. Every current US model mapped to its exact wording, and why none of the percentages converts to decibels.

Quietest kitchen composter: maker figures for Reencle, Mill, Lomi and more
Reencle lists 27 dB for its Essential and less than 26 dB for its Gravity, both microbial composters. Among dry and grind recyclers, Mill gives about 42 dB for a Dry & Grind cycle and Lomi 3 a ceiling of 45 dB. Every figure is the maker's own, grouped by how each machine works.

Bosch washing machine decibels chart, 51 to 52 dBA washing and 72 to 75 spinning
Bosch prints two decibel figures for every US compact washer. The 300 Series WGA14400UC lists 52 dBA washing and 72 spinning, the lowest spin figure; the 500 and 800 Series list 51 and 75. The dryers carry one Silence Level each, 63 to 67 dBA, and the heat pump spec sheets print 62 where the pages say 63.

The quietest clothes dryers
The quietest dryer you can verify on paper is a 24 inch compact, because only compacts carry a maker noise figure, at 61 to 67 dBA as printed. The quietest heat pump and vented dryers, and why no full size dryer publishes a number.

The quietest compact dryers for a stacked closet
A 24-inch ventless dryer stacked on a compact washer in a closet runs for two to four hours a few feet from a bedroom. Which heat pump and condenser compacts publish a figure, what a closet door needs, drain or tank, the chime you can switch off, and the one compact that runs on 120 V.

The quietest stackable washer and dryer on paper, pair by pair
Bosch's 500 Series pair is the quietest stack we can verify: 51 dBA washing, 75 dBA spinning, and 62 dBA for the heat pump dryer on top (63 on its product page). The 300 Series spins quieter under a 67 dBA dryer. Plus the Beko and ASKO pairs, their kits, and what stacking means for vibration and leveling.

The quietest washer dryer combos, and the few decibel figures behind them
One drum that washes and dries, often in a closet with no vent. In the US, just two combo brands print a decibel figure: Equator, tied to its Quiet program, and KoolMore, with no cycle named. Here is what each figure covers, which big names print none, and when the spin lands in an apartment.

The quietest robot vacuums under $300, and what you give up at this price
Robot vacuums with a maker list price of $300 or less that carry a published noise figure: each figure as printed, with its mode, grouped like with like. Plus which sales do not count, and what the makers say you lose: the dock, the map, mop lifting.

How loud is a Roborock? 53 to 65 dB, mostly in mop-only mode
In Balanced, the vacuuming level, the QV 35A lists the lowest Roborock figure, 64dB, and in Mop Only the lowest single figure, 55dB, against 65dB and 60dB for the Q7 M5. The Qrevo CurvX's 53dB, in Standard Mop-only Mode, uses a label no other Roborock shares, and no figure covers Quiet, Turbo or Max suction.

ECOVACS noise level: 60 to 64.9 dBA sweeping, 70 to 83 emptying
The DEEBOT X9S PRO OMNI lists 60 dBA sweeping and 60 dBA sweeping and mopping in standard mode, the lowest robot figures on a current US ECOVACS, though its table matches the sold-out T90 PRO OMNI's. DEEBOT stations empty at 70 to 83 dBA, and three have a quieter emptying setting.

Dreame noise level, Quiet to Max: 55 to 72 dB in its own blog
The Matrix10 Ultra is lowest in every mode of the one Dreame table that gives exact figures for two current robots side by side: 58 dBA in Quiet, 62 in Standard and 67 at Max, against 61, 65 and 71 dBA for the X60 pair. Dreame spec tables carry no noise row; most figures come from its blog.

Narwal Freo noise: 56.9 dB in Quiet Mode, no figure for emptying
Only two Narwal figures name the quietest setting, the Freo 20's 56.9 dB in Quiet Mode and the Freo X10 Pro's under 59dB in silent cleaning mode, and their units differ, so no current Narwal ranks as quietest. Narwal rates one dock action, mop washing on the Flow, and no dock emptying.

eufy robot vacuum noise level is 54 to 55 dB in standard suction
At 54 dB in Standard suction with the vacuum only, the Omni S2 has the lowest exact figure in eufy's only noise table, on the Omni C20 page: 0.22 dB under the C20 and 0.89 dB under the C28. eufy gives no figure for Quiet, Turbo or Max on its current robots, or for any of their stations.

The quietest vacuum cleaners
Four vacuum brands are the whole story on noise figures, and most quote their loudest mode. The quietest on paper, and why Dyson looks worst for saying more.

The quietest cordless stick vacuums, mode by mode
The Roborock H60 is our pick: Roborock prints a figure for each of its modes, both sound power upper limits: 81 in MAX and 75 dB(A) or less in ECO. See which makers name a mode at all, auto modes that ramp up on carpet, docks you can hold, and the MAX and Boost figures a home with pets needs.

Quietest handheld vacuum: five hand vacs and the decibel figures their makers print
DEWALT declares 75 dB(A) of sound pressure for its DCV501HB and 76 for its DCV517B. Makita and RYOBI print 68 dB(A) without naming what was measured, and Dyson rates its Car+Boat at 82 dBa of sound power. Each kind of figure stays in its own group, with a car vacuum answer.

The quietest canister vacuums, with each maker's figure kept in its own lane
Only SEBO and Miele print a noise figure for the corded canisters they sell in the US, and they print it in different ways. Each figure quoted with its unit, ranked only within its maker, plus cord reach, bags, weight, warranty and which low setting you would actually use.

Miele vacuum decibels chart, 73 to 79 dB from Guard canisters to Triflex sticks
Miele prints one "Volume in dB" line per US vacuum data sheet: 73.0 to 75.0 for bagged Guard canisters, 78.0 for the bagless Boost CX1 pair and 74.0 to 79.0 for Triflex and Duoflex sticks, never naming a mode or standard. The chart lists each figure in Miele's words. Classic C1 and Blizzard CX1 get none.

Tineco vacuum noise: A30S at 67.1 dB, floor washers kept apart
Of nine Tineco sticks, only two carry a figure, and the A30S's "Noise Level 67.1 dB" is 2.9 dB under the A50S's, with no mode named for either. FLOOR ONE floor washers print dB(A) and dBA figures, kept in their own lists, and their SilentDry drying cycle runs at 40 dB(A) or less on two models.

Dyson vacuum decibels, 82 to 87 dBA of sound power on four models
Dyson rates the V15 Detect and Motorbar V11 at 82 dBA of sound power in Boost on carpet and 87 on hardwood; an Australian sheet puts the Gen5detect at 84. The Car+Boat reads "HP82 dBa" with no mode. The V8, V12, V16, Gen5outsize, PencilVac and robots carry no figure.

The quietest wet dry shop vacuums
Shop vac makers publish three different kinds of noise figure under similar labels. See the quietest, and why one brand at 87 dB may beat another at 60.

Quietest window cleaning robots, and the one decibel figure with a distance
HOBOT gives the only window robot figure with a distance: 64 dB at 1 m for the 2S and 298. Ecovacs prints 66dB for the WINBOT W2S PRO OMNI and 68dB for the W2S OMNI with no distance, Mamibot prints ceilings, and the suction fan that makes the noise runs for the whole clean.

The 41 dBA ClearView AHTT08BC, $417, could be ordered. Plain GE window units list 50 to 64 dBA on low; portables start at 42.

Quietest window AC for a bedroom: size, sleep mode and night settings
A bedroom unit spends most of its hours on low fan or sleep mode. We sized each pick to the room by the maker's own figures and read the manuals for sleep modes, display lights, beeps and fan cycling.

The quietest window AC for a living room, judged at medium and high fan
Finding the quietest window AC for living room use means reading the medium and high rows, the speeds that run through the evening news. Maker dBA figures from 10,000 to 18,000 BTU, ranked only within one capacity band and one fan speed, plus sizing, 230 V units, window widths, brackets and fan cycling.

The quietest through-the-wall air conditioners
Only three brands put decibel figures on their through-the-wall air conditioners, and three big names publish none. We read the spec sheets for twelve in-wall sleeve units, kept every figure in the maker's own words, and picked the quietest for an apartment wall.

The quietest PTAC units
Friedrich and GREE print the same 46 dB(A) indoor sound pressure figure for their 9,000 BTU PTACs, while GE, which calls Zoneline the quietest PTAC, prints no operating figure at all. Eleven hotel-style units with published numbers, sorted by kind of figure.

The quietest portable air conditioners for a small room
The quietest portable air conditioner figures are 42 dBA, from the Midea Duo and Dreo 740S at their lowest speed. LG lists every speed for the LP1419IVSM: 53, 50, 47 and 44 dBA down to sleep mode. Who publishes what, how window units compare, and what sleep modes and full trays mean in a bedroom.

The quietest portable AC for a living room, at the fan speeds you actually use
In a living room a portable AC runs on medium or high while the TV is on. Maker figures at those speeds, ranked only like with like, plus SACC versus ASHRAE sizing, one hose or two, inverters, window kits and what happens to the water.

The quietest mini-split heat pumps you can buy online
MRCOOL's DIY Select 12k lists 17.5 dB(A) on its silent speed, the lowest indoor figure of the systems here. Mini-split makers print indoor and outdoor dB(A) for every speed, a rare habit. See which kits you can install yourself, whose warranty needs a pro, and which head suits a bedroom.

The quietest mini-split for a living room, at the fan speeds you actually use
In a living room, with the TV on, a mini-split runs on low, medium or high, not on silent. Maker dB(A) figures at those three speeds for heads of 18,000 and 24,000 BTU, how they rise with capacity, wall vs cassette vs floor console, and the outdoor unit by the patio.

The quietest mini-split for cold climates, by its heating figures
The quietest mini split for cold climates is the one that is quiet while heating, which is its job most of the year. We rank cold-rated heads by their heating-mode dB(A), speed by speed, and outdoor units by their heating figure. Plus what makers say about defrost noise.

The quietest pedestal fans, by the makers' own figures
Lasko labels a low and a high figure for its DC pedestal fans, Rowenta pins one number to its Silent Night speed, and Vornado prints a figure per speed without naming them. To find the quietest pedestal fan, we gather every noise figure the makers put in writing, plus the listings that contradict their own numbers.

The quietest ceiling fans with a light and remote
Ceiling fans are a noise dead zone: two makers put a figure on paper, and ENERGY STAR does not test for it. What is published, what really causes a fan to hum, and what matters for a fan over a bed: the slowest speed, the timer, the room size and the height.

The quietest inline duct fans
Inline duct fan figures run from 26 dBA for a 4 inch EC fan to 45 dBA at 8 inches. Eighteen fans with maker figures, how AC Infinity, VIVOSUN, TerraBloom and VENTS rate theirs, and which brands publish nothing at all.

The Model 80X box fan carries the lowest number in Vornado's tables: 28/61 dBA, read as the bottom and top of its 99 speeds from its Watts row. Vornado prints a Sound (dBA) row for 99 current fans, usually one unlabeled figure per speed, and four of its pages promise less noise than their own tables show.

Dreo fan decibels: why nine towers share one 35 dB answer
The Pilot Max S is the one Dreo fan whose figure names a speed and a test: 25 dB at its lowest speed in Dreo's lab, though Dreo's support page says about 35dB. Nine of Dreo's 11 rated fans share that about 35dB line, the 565S table fan prints 20dB with no speed, and no TurboPoly pedestal fan has a figure.

The quietest bathroom fans with a light, ranked on certified sones
Replacing a fan and light combo? We ranked fan-lights from Panasonic, Delta Breez and Broan-NuTone on HVI-certified sones at the tougher 0.25-inch test pressure, and read the manuals for what glows, blinks or switches itself on at night.

Panasonic Whisper fan sones: Pick-A-Flow settings at 0.25 inch
The slim-grille WhisperGreen Select FV-0511VKS3S is Panasonic's quietest fan on paper: with 6-inch duct, every speed from 30 to 110 CFM is under 0.3 sone at 0.25 inch. Panasonic boxes lean on "under 0.3", but the WhisperFit, WhisperValue and WhisperWarm reach 1.2 to 1.5 sones at their top settings at 0.25 inch.

Broan bathroom fan sones at 0.1 inch, and the few rated at 0.25
The EVOLVE PTE511RK and its lighted twin are Broan's quietest fans: under 0.3 sone at 50 and 80 CFM and 0.3 at 110 CFM at 0.1 inch on a 6-inch duct, and 0.9 sone at 110 CFM at 0.25 inch, still at full airflow. Most of Broan's 89 current sheets give a sone figure at 0.1 inch only.

The quietest bathroom fans for small bathrooms and powder rooms
A half bath or small bathroom needs only 50 to 80 CFM, so the figure that matters is the sone rating at that setting. We ranked fans on HVI-certified sones at 50 and 80 CFM at the tougher 0.25-inch test pressure, mostly through the 4-inch duct a small bathroom tends to have.

Delta Breez sones: which BreezSignature is quietest on your duct
On a 6-inch duct the BreezSignature SIG80-110 and SIG80-110LED are Delta's quietest fans at 110 CFM: under 0.3 sone at 0.1 inch and 0.8 sone at 0.25 inch, still at full airflow. On a 4-inch duct the SIG110 is 0.6 sone at 95 CFM at 0.25 inch, and nearly every Delta Breez table gives sones at both pressures.

The quietest bathroom fans with a humidity sensor, ranked on certified sones
The quietest bathroom fan with humidity sensor control is the one whose boost speed you can stand, since the sensor picks when it runs. We ranked Panasonic, Delta Breez and Broan sensor fans on certified sones at boost and at idle, and read each manual on what starts and stops them.

Quietest bathroom fan with heater: seven fan heaters by their sone ratings
Panasonic's WhisperWarm DC pair hold the lowest HVI-certified rating among bathroom fans with heaters, 0.7 sone at 110 CFM. Delta and Broan-NuTone heater fans follow at 1.5 sones moving 80 CFM. Air King's uncertified units are ranked only against each other, and no maker rates the heat setting.

The quietest hair clippers and trimmers, by declared sound power
Philips prints a declared sound power figure, Lc in dB(A), in its grooming manuals; Wahl, Panasonic, Braun and Remington print none in the documents we read. Which Norelco clippers and trimmers declare 69 and which 75, what the gap means at your ear, and what it means for a child's haircut.

Quietest beard trimmer: Panasonic and Norelco noise figures, one brand at a time
Panasonic's ER-SB40 and ER-GB80 declare 64 dB(A) re 1 pW and its long-beard ER-GB96 65. Norelco's Beard Trimmer 5000 and 7000 Series and the 9000 Prestige all print a 69 dB(A) maximum. The two makers state noise on different footings, so each brand is ranked only within itself.

Quietest electric shaver: 61 dB(A) for Panasonic's ARC5, 63 for Braun's Series 7
Panasonic's ARC5 ES-LV97 and ES-LV67 declare 61 dB(A) in shaving mode, the lowest Panasonic figure. Braun's Series 7 and Series 9 Pro declare 63, its lowest. Norelco shavers all print one 69 dB(A) maximum. Each maker's figures are ranked only among its own, and none appears in a US English manual.

Quietest electric toothbrush: the Oral-B iO noise levels, 62 and 64 dB (A)
Oral-B's international iO manuals print "Noise level: 62 dB (A)" for the iO Series 7 to 9 and 64 for the Series 3 to 6 and 10, yet Oral-B's US page puts the Series 9 near 72 dB. Philips, Quip, Burst and Waterpik print nothing; Laifen and Oclean give only floors and ceilings.

Quietest BiPAP machine: ResMed AirCurve noise figures, sorted by ISO test edition
ResMed's AirCurve 10 VAuto and S declare 25 dBA, or 27 with humidification, under ISO 80601-2-70:2015. The AirCurve 11 VAuto and ASV declare 26 and 27 dBA under the 2020 edition, so each pair is ranked alone. React Health gives its Luna G3 BPAP a ceiling only.

Quietest nebulizer: four compressor figures from the makers, and a mesh unit bounded under 23 dBA
Omron lists approximately 45 and 52 dBA for its US compressor nebulizers, Drive DeVilbiss prints 51 to 55 dBA for the Pulmo-Aide and 54 for the Traveler, and Omron's mesh MicroAir is bounded under 23 dBA. Every figure with its condition, and why mesh and compressor units sit in separate groups.

Quietest oxygen concentrator: portable and home units at the setting each maker tested
Drive DeVilbiss prints 37.5 dBA at setting 2 for its iGo2 portable and Inogen 38 dBA for the One G5. Among home units on continuous flow, CAIRE's US manual gives the VisionAire 5 39,53 dB(A) at 3 LPM. Pulse-dose portables and continuous-flow units are compared only within their own group.

Quietest breast pump: the decibel figures Elvie, Medela, Zomee and others publish
Elvie prints 32dB for the Elvie Pump and Medela 38 dB for its Magic InBra, the lowest stated figures we found. Zomee states 46 decibels for its Z2 double pump. No maker names a distance or weighting, and many print only a ceiling such as under 45 dB, which we list apart.

The quietest treadmill for running, and what 70 dB means
The Technogym Run is the quietest running treadmill you can verify with a runner on it: 57 dB with an 85 kg user at 10 km/h, the only figure taken that way. BowFlex and Horizon manuals promise no more than 70 dB at 7.5 mph with nobody on it. The under 45 dB claims give no conditions at all.

The quietest walking pads, and what their decibel claims are worth
A quiet walking pad is sold on numbers like 35dB and under 45 dB, printed with no speed or distance. Three makers now say what their figure covers: idling, no load or top speed. Who says what, which pads can be compared, and what keeps a quiet walking pad quiet downstairs.

Quietest rowing machine: what each maker's decibel figure covers
Wenoker's R10 is the quietest rowing machine we can verify on its maker's terms: under 30 dB, which Wenoker says does not rise as you row faster. MERACH and Pooboo label magnetic rowers under 20 dB in images with no condition; Aviron says about 60 decibels for its fan-and-magnet rower; Concept2 and Hydrow give none.

Quietest smart trainer: four models tie at 56 dB at 25 km/h
Four direct-drive smart trainers state exactly 56 dB at 25 km/h from 1.5 m: Van Rysel's D500 and RCR and Magene's T300 and T200. Five more Magene models promise under 56 dB at that speed, and Saris rates the H3 Plus 59 decibels at 20 mph. Wahoo, Garmin Tacx and Elite print no figure.

Quiet exercise bike for an apartment: what the dB claims cover
MERACH prints the lowest figure for any exercise bike, "under 15dB" for its S19 Pro recumbent, with no cadence, resistance level or distance. On spin bikes, JOROTO's X4S and the YOSUDA EB1 claim under 20 dB. Peloton, Schwinn and NordicTrack print none, so the manuals on mats, levelers and floors count.

The quietest massage guns
Massage gun brands compete on quietness, but the biggest name publishes no decibel figure at all. See which ones publish a number, what it is attached to, and which are quietest on paper.

The quietest portable generators for home backup
A 5,000 to 12,000 watt portable generator sits 20 feet from your house, often near a window or a neighbor's wall, for days. We group every maker's figure by its stated load and distance, from Honda's 52 dB(A) at quarter load and 7 meters to claims with no condition at all.

Honda generator decibel chart: 42 to 73 dB(A) at 7 meters
The EU1000i is the quietest Honda generator: 42 dB(A) at 1/4 load and 50 dB(A) at rated load, as sound pressure 7 meters from the control panel side. Honda quotes its other inverters at the same two loads and its six EM, EB and EG models at 50% and rated load, so only rated load lines up across all 13.

Generac generator noise level in weekly exercise and in an outage
The 10 kW model 7257 is the quietest Generac: 49 dB(A) in Quiet-Test low-speed exercise and 61 dB(A) at normal load, both at 23 ft (7 m) from the front. Every air-cooled standby sheet gives those two rows; the liquid-cooled Protector sheets report the quietest of 8 points, and the portables give no figure.

Kohler generator decibels chart, 52 to 66 dB(A) in exercise across ten models
Kohler's 24RCLA, 30RCLA and 38RCLC list 52 dB(A) in engine exercise and 60 dB(A) in normal operation at 23 ft (7 m), the quietest of 8 points, at no load. The quietest air-cooled Kohler, the 26RCA, lists 56 and 67. Ten current US models, from spec sheets read October 23, 2026.

Briggs & Stratton generator decibels chart, 58 to 70 dB at 7 m across 20 models
The P2400 inverter is the quietest Briggs & Stratton, 58dB at quarter load on its UK page. Among home standby units, each PowerProtect+ sheet gives 62 dB(A) for Low Idle Mode, with 66 or 67 for normal operation, all at 7 m. Twenty current US models, from Briggs pages and spec sheets read October 24, 2026.

Predator generator decibels, 56 to 78.5 dBA on Harbor Freight's own figures
Harbor Freight gives the Predator 3500 Super Quiet inverter a 56 dBA Sound Rating, its lowest, though a 2025 manual prints 57 dB(A) at 23 feet and 25% load. The 2000 and 2500 list 58; the open frame 4550 lists 64.6, and conventional Predators run 70.9 to 78.5 dBA.

How loud is a Champion generator? 53 to 79 dBA from 23 feet
Champion's enclosed inverters of 2,000 to 2,500 watts are its quietest portables, all listed at 53 dB(A); the 2500W Inverter 201317 says "53 dBA from 23 feet". Champion names that distance on most pages but never a load, and on four pages its text and spec table give different numbers.

Quietest Westinghouse generator: why 19 iGen models tie at 52 dBA
Nineteen iGen inverters share Westinghouse's lowest figure, 52 dBA, from the 1,000 running watt iGen1500c to the 3,900 running watt iGen5000, with no load or distance given. Only two pages name a load: at 25 ft and 25 percent load the iGen2800DFc lists 62 dBA, ten more than its own "as quiet as 52 dBA".

Yamaha generator decibels come as a range: 1/4 load to rated load
The EF3000iS is the quietest Yamaha at light load: 54.5 dB(A) at 7 m at the 1/4 load end and 61.0 at rated load, per its US manual, with the economy control switch on. Yamaha prints each figure under a 1/4 load to rated load heading, and its EF4500iSE spec page, features page and manual give three different ranges.

WEN generator decibels: what "quarter load, 22 feet" means
The 56125i is WEN's quietest generator with both conditions stated: "51 decibels (at quarter load from 22 feet away)", for 1,000 running watts. Nearly every WEN inverter figure is a quarter-load one, eight pages add 22 feet, and WEN publishes no full-load figure for any current inverter.

Firman generator dB levels, stated at 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 load
Nine Firman Whisper inverters share its lowest figure, 58 dB at 1/4 load, and the dual fuel WH03342 is the lowest priced of them with CO Alert. Firman quotes other models at 50% or 3/4 load, adds 7 m only on its gasoline open frame line, and on five pages gives two different numbers.

DuroMax generator noise level, from 52 dB at 25% load
The XP2300iH is the quietest DuroMax: its manual lists 52 dB at 25% load, 9 dB under the next DuroMax inverter on that basis. DuroMax rates its inverters at 25% load and its biggest HX open frame models at 50%, gives a tri fuel model the same figure as its dual fuel twin, and states no distance anywhere.

Are Pulsar generators loud? From 56 dB at 7 m and quarter load
The 1,200 running watt PGD16iSCO is the quietest Pulsar with a load and a distance stated: 56 dB at 7 m and 1/4 load, in its owner's manual. Pulsar's spec tables give only a bare Volume (dB); the 7 m figures, at quarter or half load, are in some manuals, and on several models the page and manual disagree.

The quietest inverter generators under $1,000
Inverter generators at a maker list price of $1,000 or less, sorted by what each maker's noise figure states: load and distance, load only, distance only, or neither. Watts for the money, eco mode, parallel kits, CO shutoff, and where Honda and Yamaha sit.

The quietest dual fuel generators
Dual fuel and tri fuel generators run on gasoline, propane or natural gas, and lose running watts on the gaseous fuels. We group every maker figure by its stated load and distance, list each maker's propane derating, and pick the quietest in each group.

The quietest lightweight generators you can carry
If you have to lift it into a car, carry it to a site or set it down on a tailgate, weight comes first. We list each maker's stated weight, group the noise figures by the distance and load each maker gives, and cover run time at quarter load, CO shutoff, eco mode and two light units in parallel.

Quietest RV generator: built-in Onan sets at 10 ft and RV-ready portables
Cummins rates its Onan QG 2800i at 65 dBA from 10 ft at half load, the lowest of 15 current built-in RV sets. Among 30 amp portables, Honda's EU2200i Companion lists 48 dB(A) at quarter load from 23 ft. The two kinds use different tests, so each is ranked only against its own kind.

The quietest portable power stations
Power stations are silent until their fans spin up. Which makers put a decibel figure on that moment, what each figure was measured at, and which charging settings keep one hushed through the night.

EcoFlow noise level: 25 dB or less at 600W on the DELTA 3 Max
The DELTA 3 Max, DELTA 3 Ultra and DELTA 3 Ultra Plus share EcoFlow's lowest figure with a distance: 25 dB or less at 600W, taken 1 m away at 25°C room temperature while charging or discharging. Only the DELTA 3 and DELTA 3 Plus add a louder step, under 40 dB at 1200W, and no figure covers X-Stream fast charging.

How loud is a Jackery? Quiet Mode 30 dB, full load 45 to 51.7 dB
The Explorer 2000 v2 is the quietest Jackery with figures at both ends: 30 dB in Quiet Mode, 45 dB at full load, both at 1 meter. Five more current models share the 30 dB Quiet Mode figure, and at full load the HomePower 3600 Plus and Explorer 5000 Plus list 50.3 and 51.7 dB. Fast charging has no figure.

BLUETTI noise level starts at 16 dB, in Elite 200 V2 Silent mode
The Elite 200 V2 is BLUETTI's best-documented quiet station: 16 to 30 dB in Silent charging, which its manual caps at 800W input, and below 50 dB during full operation. No BLUETTI figure gives a distance, and spec-table maximums run from 45 dB on the 200W Elite 10 Mini to 50 dB on four bigger units.

Anker SOLIX noise figures explained, from 0 to 20 dB under 200W
The C1000 Gen 2 has Anker SOLIX's smallest number, 0 to 20 dB, but only while discharging 200W or less. Just four current US models print a figure, each at its own condition: the S2000 at 30 dB under 600W, the C2000 Gen 2 at 30 dB under 1,000W and the C300 at 25 dB from 3.3 ft, the only one with a distance.

The quietest backpack leaf blowers, for big yards and blower rules
Backpack blowers ranked on the figure a leaf blower rule is written in: dB(A) at 50 feet under ANSI B175.2. Plus what the makers declare at your ear, the run time they publish, and the hearing protection their manuals require.

Quietest leaf vacuum: ECHO's ES-250 has the lowest 50 ft rating, 70 dB(A)
ECHO's ES-250 Shred 'N' Vac rates 70 dB(A) at 50 ft under ANSI B175.2 and Husqvarna's 125BVx 72.3, the only two leaf vacuums rated on that test. Troy-Bilt's TB272V lists 74 with no basis, and Sun Joe gives three corded models 96 dB of sound power. No maker prints a vacuum-mode figure.

The quietest lawn mowers
Battery mower noise figures exist, just rarely on a US page: seven of the eight battery walk-behinds here declare 79 to 84 dB(A) at the operator, each on a STIHL UK page or in a European manual. The quietest EGO and STIHL mowers, and why gas is closer than you think.

The quietest battery lawn mowers for early mornings and small yards
For mowing with neighbors close by and still asleep, watch the guaranteed sound power rather than the figure at your ear. Battery walk-behind mowers ranked on both, kept apart, with the ECO and quiet modes makers offer and the runtime and deck size that come with them.

Quietest riding mower: the four EGO riders that declare a figure at the ear
EGO's 52 in. Z6 zero-turn declares 82.5 dB(A) at the operator's ear, and its T6 tractor and two 42 in. Z6 models declare 83.9 to 84.3, all with a K of 3. No gas riding mower we checked publishes a figure. Every number comes from an EGO manual.

The quietest robot lawn mowers
Robot mower makers print 55 to 65 dB, and only one brand says what it measured. Why a 57 can be quieter than a 55, and which claims deserve trust.

The quietest pressure washers
Pressure washer noise figures barely exist: three brands print one, and they print different quantities. What they say, and why no gas model can be compared at all.

The quietest electric pressure washers for close neighbors
Four Karcher models print 75 dB(A) sound pressure at the operator, the quietest electric pressure washer figures with a stated basis. Washing a car, deck or patio with a neighbor a few yards away: why Karcher and Sun Joe cannot be ranked together, and what Total Stop and a 35 ft cord change.

The quietest string trimmers
Nine battery string trimmers have maker noise figures we can tie to their US model, starting at 74 dB(A) at the ear, against a 105 dB(A) gas contrast. Which makers declare under real standards, and which publish nothing for their US models.

The quietest cordless string trimmers for early and late edging
Edging before work or after dinner, the neighbors hear the whole trimmer, which the guaranteed sound power describes. Battery string trimmers ranked on that figure, and separately on the ear figure within each test standard, with the low settings, heads, line, runtime and weight that shape a quiet session.

The quietest hedge trimmers
Battery hedge trimmers declare 76 dB(A) at the ear for a full size STIHL up to 86.47 for an EGO, against 97 for gas. Twelve trimmers with maker figures, and why the smaller trimmers are not the quieter ones.

The quietest chainsaws
Battery chainsaws run from 83 dB(A) at the ear for a small STIHL to 96, against 99 for gas. Fifteen saws with maker declared figures, the Power Axe saws you can buy online, and the noise figures STIHL leaves out of its North American manuals.

The quietest electric chainsaws for storm cleanup and firewood near neighbors
Battery and corded chainsaws ranked on maker declarations for a yard with houses close by: the figure at your ear, the guaranteed sound power the street hears, what happens between cuts, chain speed and bar length, and the hearing protection the makers require.

The quietest pool heat pumps
Four pool heat pump makers print a noise figure, and only two state a clear distance. See the lowest declared numbers, 30.8 dB(A) at 10 feet for a Madimack and 32 dB(A) at 33 feet for an Aquastrong, and why Hayward, Pentair and Jandy publish none.

Quietest pool pump: the variable-speed figures that name a speed or a distance
Pentair is the one pool pump maker we read that says how far and how fast: 45 dB at 10 feet for the IntelliFlo3 VSF running at 40 to 50%. Madimack prints lower numbers, 32.9 at 30% speed for the InverFLOW Plus 1HP, with no distance or unit. Hayward and Waterway print none.

The quietest pole saws
The quietest pole saw with an ISO 22868 declaration is a STIHL battery model at 77 dB(A) at the ear. Sixteen pole saws with maker declared noise, ranked only within each test method, and the overseas manuals those figures come from.

The quietest tillers and cultivators
On a battery powerhead, one STIHL cultivator attachment is declared at 74 dB(A) for the ear; on a gas engine, 99. Ten tillers and cultivators with maker noise declarations, the quiet picks in each group, and the brands with no figure to their name.

The quietest lawn edgers
Twelve US lawn edgers and edger attachments carry maker noise figures, from 73.8 dB(A) at the ear for a Makita battery combo to 94 for Husqvarna gas edgers. See the lowest guaranteed sound power, how STIHL declares its KombiSystem edgers, and which brands print nothing.

EGO mower and leaf blower decibels, declared at the ear in Europe
With its line head, the ST1511T string trimmer is the quietest EGO tool at the operator's ear that maps to a US model: 78.1 dB(A) in the EU manual for the ST1510E-T. The LB5804 blower declares 78.4 and the LM2020SP mower 79.2. EGO's US pages print only bare 62 to 64 dB figures for consumer blowers.

Greenworks outdoor tool decibels chart, 54 to 95.4 dB across seven tool types
Greenworks rates its AiMowbot robot mowers at 54 dB, the 48V BL2002B00 backpack blower at 65 dB and three 3000 PSI washers at 68 dB, with no distance or standard. Only the Pro 80V 21 inch mower gives distances: 84.9 dB at the user, 95.4 dB at 15 ft and 61.83 dB at 50 ft.

RYOBI blower decibels chart, 55 to 65 dB across twelve models
RYOBI prints a decibel row for twelve current US leaf blowers, from 55 dB on the 600 CFM blower in the RY40960 combo to 65 dB on the 18V P21011, with no distance or standard named. Its mowers, trimmers and snow blowers offer only percent-quieter-than-gas claims.

ECHO leaf blower decibels, 64 to 80 dB(A) at 50 ft across 12 gas blowers
ECHO's low-noise PB-255LN handheld lists 64 dB(A) at 50 ft by ANSI B175.2, and the PB-265LN and PB-760LN backpacks 65. Its other gas blowers run from 70 to 80. ECHO prints no decibel figure for any of its eight 56V battery blowers, so none of them can be placed on the scale.

Makita outdoor tool decibels, 79.4 to 95 dB(A) at the ear across four tool types
Makita's European manuals put the GBU01Z blower lowest at the operator's ear, 79.4 dB(A) with its end nozzle and a guaranteed 91. The XML07Z, XML08Z and XML09Z mowers declare 81, the XHU09Z hedge trimmer 82 and the XCU11Z chainsaw 89. Makita's US site prints only a 60 or 61 dB(A) ANSI rating for blowers.

DEWALT outdoor tool decibels chart, 58 to 96 dB across blowers and pruners
DEWALT rates seven US blowers from 58 to 96 dB and two pruners at 75 dB, but its Noise Rating row names no distance or standard; footnotes on the DCBL724 and DCBL777 pages describe a bystander 50 feet away. The mowers, string trimmers, chainsaws and hedge trimmers carry no US figure at all.

Husqvarna leaf blower decibel chart, from 60 dB(A) at 50 ft
The 530iB is the quietest Husqvarna blower to the neighbors: its US manual rates it at 60 dB(A) from 50 ft by ANSI B175.2, and its US page 76.9 dB(A) for the operator, 92 guaranteed. Almost every Husqvarna US page has a Sound and noise table, and where page and manual disagree, by up to 13 decibels, both are quoted.

Which STIHL leaf blower is quietest? BGA 30, 50 dB(A) at 50 ft
At 50 dB(A) from 50 ft under ANSI/OPEI B175.2, the BGA 30 is the quietest STIHL blower, and the BGA 50 the quietest on 36 V at 55. STIHL USA prints that 50 ft row only for blowers; for saws, trimmers, hedge trimmers and mowers, the operator figures come from STIHL's UK and Australian data and its international manuals.

Milwaukee blower decibels, M18 FUEL vs MX FUEL: 54 to 64 at 50 ft
The M18 FUEL 3017-20 is the quietest Milwaukee blower, rated by ANSI B175.2 at 54 dB(A) from 50 ft, five decibels under the QUIK-LOK attachment with the same 500 CFM. The MX FUEL MXF600 backpack moves 800 CFM at 64 dB(A), and Milwaukee prints no comparable figure for its US trimmers, saws, hedge trimmers or mower.

Quietest 12V fridge: the Dometic CFX3 100 at 36.5 dB(A), and five more with real figures
Dometic's US manual gives the CFX3 100 a noise emission of 36.5 dB(A), against 44 for the CFX3 35 and 46 for the CFX3 25. Whynter lists 39 dBA for its FMC-350XP and 40 for the FM-45G. Neither maker names a distance, so each brand is ranked on its own.

Quietest camping fan: what four battery fan makers print, brand by brand
Battery fan makers print three different kinds of noise figure, so every brand here is weighed against itself alone. JisuLife's Stroller Fan 4 lists 39.3 to 55.5dB, Makita's DCF203Z 48 dB(A), and Sharper Image and Gaiatop each give one "as low as" figure for the gentlest setting.

The quietest impact wrenches
An impact wrench is loud by design, and the makers' own numbers prove it: 91 dB(A) at the ear for a DEWALT mid-range 1/2 inch, 101 for a Hilti high torque. Sixteen declared wrenches, the quietest 3/8 and 1/2 inch picks, and the US models we traced to EU declarations.

Quietest drill press: JET's 75 dB JDP-15 pair and three louder maker figures
JET prints 75dB at 39 in. (1 m) without load for its JDP-15B benchtop and JDP-15F floor drill presses, 80 for the JDP-17 and the brushless JDP-20S, and Powermatic 90 for its PM2800B. All five figures come from US manuals, and none names a weighting or a test standard.

The quietest rotary hammers
Under EN 62841, rotary hammers declare 90 dB(A) at the ear at the quiet end, shared by a Hilti, a Bosch and a DEWALT, and 96 at the loud end for a Makita SDS-max. Sixteen hammers with maker declarations, grouped as SDS-plus, SDS-max or corded.

Quietest hammer drill: nine cordless models with maker decibel figures, in three groups

The quietest air compressors for a home garage
Quiet air compressors are sold at 56 to 70 dB, but almost no maker says how it measured. The lowest claims on the market, ranked with that caveat attached, and the air each one delivers.

Quietest airbrush compressor figures from Paasche, Master Airbrush and Sparmax
Paasche prints 47 dB for four airbrush compressors, the D3000R among them with a 3/4 gallon tank. Master Airbrush prints 47 db for its TC-40 and TC-40T, and Sparmax gives the tiny Beetle 40 decibels. None says how it measured, so each brand is ranked only against its own lineup.

Quietest tire inflator: cordless and 12V models ranked by maker decibels
Makita's 18V DMP180ZX and DMP181ZX declare 73 dB(A) at the user under EN62841-1, the lowest of five cordless tool inflators, all within 3 dB. Among 12V compressors, VIAIR lists 68 dB at 0 PSI for its TLC PLUS. Each figure comes from the maker, and the two kinds are ranked apart.

Quietest table saw: 7 jobsite and compact saws by declared noise, Festool lowest at 85 dB(A)
Only seven jobsite and compact table saws have a maker noise declaration: the Festool CSC SYS 50 at 85 dB(A) at the ear, a Milwaukee at 92.37, and two SawStops declared in plain dB that get their own group. Every figure traced to the manual that prints it.

The quietest miter saws
A Bosch and two Festool Kapex saws share the lowest declared miter saw figure, 88 dB(A) at the ear; a Milwaukee tops the list at 96.2. Fourteen saws with maker declarations across 8-1/2, 10 and 12 inch sizes, matched model by model to the manuals that publish them.

The quietest jigsaws

Reciprocating saw figures under the current standard start with a compact Makita at 80 dB(A) for the operator and end at 91 with Makita's corded saws. Seventeen declared saws, the quietest one-handed, full size and corded picks, and the figures we could not rank.

The quietest portable band saws
Portable band saw noise figures span 71 to 90,2 dB(A) at the ear, but they were not all measured the same way, so we never mix them. Fifteen saws with maker figures, the quietest in each group, and the brands whose pages print nothing.

Quietest tile saw: the five wet saws with a maker noise declaration
Husqvarna's TS 60 and DEWALT's D24000 and D36000 declare 91.5 to 91.8 dB(A) at the operator's ear under the same EN 12418 test, a tie. Among handheld wet cutters, Makita's 12V CC02 declares 87 dB(A) against 101 for its corded 4101RH. Every figure comes from a maker manual.

Router noise runs from a 12 V Bosch edge router declared at 74 dB(A) at the ear to a Festool OF 1400 at 98. Sixteen trim, compact and plunge routers with maker declarations, the quietest in each size, and the brands that publish no number anywhere.

The quietest oscillating multi-tools
Fein declares 73.7 dB(A) at the ear for its 12 V AMM 300 Plus, and Makita's sanding figures go as low as 72. Fourteen oscillating multi-tools with maker noise figures, grouped by the job each figure describes, with the silent brands named.

The quietest angle grinders
Makita's cordless XAG04Z declares 82 dB(A) at the ear, the lowest in the main group of twelve 4-1/2 and 5 inch angle grinders with published maker noise figures. The quietest cordless and corded grinders, the US models we traced to EU manuals, and the brands that publish no figure at all.

Quietest bench grinder: JET rates six at 75 dB, and Tormek's T-8 sharpener at 59 dB(A)

The quietest 140mm case fans, compared at the same RPM
Every 140mm fan maker quotes dB(A) at a different speed. We grouped the figures from Noctua, Scythe, Thermalright and Lian Li by the RPM they were stated at, 800, 1200, 1500 and 1600, and ranked only within each group, with airflow and pressure at that same speed.

Noctua fan noise dB with and without the Low-Noise Adaptor
The NF-S12B redux-700 lists the lowest full-speed figure of any 120mm Noctua, 6.8 dB(A) at 700 RPM, and the NF-S12A ULN the lowest with its Low-Noise Adaptor, 6.7 dB(A) at 600 RPM. Nearly every Noctua infosheet gives the figure twice, at full speed and with the adaptor in the box, beside airflow and static pressure.

The quietest CPU coolers
Most cooler makers publish one decibel figure, at full speed. A few publish figures at partial load, which is where a cooler actually runs. See the quietest air, low profile and liquid coolers.

Quietest AIO cooler: 360 mm liquid coolers grouped by how makers rate noise
be quiet!'s Light Loop 360mm lists 17.2 dB(A) at 50% PWM, lowest of four be quiet! 360s, and Lian Li's Galahad II Trinity prints a 16.59 dBA pump. See which AIO makers rate pump and fans apart, which print only maximums or ranges, and which print nothing.

The quietest PC power supplies
Only two PSU makers publish decibel figures. Everyone else publishes a Cybenetics letter grade, which converts to a dB band. Here is how to read both, and the quietest units we found.

The quietest hard drives
Fifteen hard drive families publish maker acoustic figures, from 19 dBA idle for a 2.5 inch WD Blue to 34 for 7200 RPM NAS drives. See the quietest desktop, laptop and NAS drives, and why Seagate's own documents disagree with each other.

The quietest PC cases, by the fans they ship with
No case maker we read publishes a noise figure for the case itself. NZXT, Thermaltake and Lian Li publish ratings for the fans in the box, from 22.9 to 35.8 dBA at a stated speed. See which cases ship with the lowest rated fans, and the brands that print nothing.

The quietest 3D printers
The quietest 3D printer with a published maker figure lists up to 44 dB in quiet mode, measured at 1 meter. Most makers publish a silent mode number and two name the measuring distance. The quietest enclosed and open frame printers, and why the enclosure is not the whole story.

The quietest printers for a home office
The quietest printer figures here are inkjet: Epson lists 46 dB(A) sound pressure for the EcoTank ET-4950 in colour. Among lasers, Brother prints 47 dB with no label and HP 51 dB(A). The quietest lasers and inkjets for a home office, why the figures measure different things, and how to read the sheet.

The quietest paper shredders
The best known quiet shredder brand prints no decibel number anywhere. See which makers do, what their numbers describe, and the quietest cross cut, micro cut and auto feed shredders on paper.

The quietest standing desks
Most electric desk makers publish a motor noise ceiling, almost none say how it was measured, and one figure sits 15 dB below the rest. See the quietest frames and full desks, and what the numbers are worth.

The quietest mini PCs
Apple and the business PC makers declare noise under real standards, the consumer brands measure at 50 cm in their own labs, and one brand prints 32 dB on everything. See the quietest mini PCs and how to read each kind of figure.

The quietest laptops
A fanless MacBook declares 1.2 bels at idle and has no fan to hear at all; the loudest flagship ThinkPad declares 2.8. Seventeen current laptops carry maker noise declarations. The quietest Apple, Dell, HP and Lenovo machines, which figures are averages and which are ceilings, and the models with no number.

The quietest laptops under $1,000
Five laptops under $1,000 whose makers declare their noise: a fanless MacBook Neo at 1.2 bels, two Dell 15s at 2.2, an XPS 13 and the one budget ThinkPad with a declared CPU load figure. Prices checked on each maker's US store.

The quietest gaming laptops
The quietest gaming laptop under load declares 23.3 dB at the operator position, Lenovo's Legion 7i Gen 10 with the processor working, yet no maker declares a figure while gaming. Which Legion, Alienware, ROG and MSI models declare the lowest numbers under load and at idle, and the machine types to avoid.

The quietest laptop cooling pads, by the figures their makers print
Laptop cooling pad makers print one decibel figure with no distance and, usually, no fan speed. Some print dBA, some plain dB. We sorted 15 US-sold pads by what each figure actually claims, so you only compare like with like.

The quietest desktop PCs

The quietest short throw and ultra short throw projectors
A laser TV sits under the screen, in front of the couch, so its fan is closer to you than a ceiling projector. See which short throw and UST models publish a quiet or eco figure, what none of them say about brightness in that mode, and why dB and dB(A) do not line up.

The quietest portable and battery projectors
A portable projector sits on the nightstand, in a tent or on a shelf in a kid's room, so its fan is an arm's length away. See which battery models publish a figure, what makers say happens on battery power, and why dB and dB(A) stay in separate lists.
