LG puts a noise figure on every dishwasher it sells in the US, in a spec row it calls "LoDecibel Quiet Operation". On October 4, 2026, LG's US site had priced product pages for 29 dishwasher models, 46 versions counting colors, under the LG, LG STUDIO and LG SIGNATURE names. Their figures ran from 38 to 52 dBA, and every one is 24 inches wide.
This page lists them all, quietest first, in three groups that should only be compared within themselves: models with a finished door rated in dBA, the one panel ready model, and one STUDIO model that LG rates only in dB. To see how LG's figures sit against other brands, see our quietest dishwashers guide; we do not rank other brands here.
Our picks are listed above, with full specifications for each.
How LG rates noise
Every LG dishwasher page has a "LoDecibel Quiet Operation" row in its spec table, and most LG spec sheets repeat it. Many product names carry the number too, such as "24 Inch 39dBA Smart Top Control Dishwasher" for the LDNTH862S.
What LG never prints is the cycle, the distance or the test standard behind the number. Several pages say, in the same sentence with a different number, "The 46 dB cleaning cycle is whisper-quiet, so you won't have to worry about interrupting post-dinner-party conversations or naptime." That tells you the figure belongs to a cleaning cycle, but not which one. The LDFN4542 owner's manual we read gives no figure at all, only "Some level of noise is normal during operation." So an LG figure tells you how one LG compares with another, and much less about how it compares with a brand that tests differently. Our guide to comparing decibel ratings explains why that matters.
LG also mixes its units. Most spec tables say dBA, but the same spec sheets often add a feature line such as "LoDecibel Operation (46 dB)". The LDNTH862S page says 39 dBA while its spec sheet says "39 dB". The SIGNATURE SDNTH981S is named "39 dBA" but its spec row says "39dB". We read these as LG's own shorthand for one figure and rank a model as dBA wherever LG states dBA for it. The STUDIO SDNTHS72S is the exception: LG gives it as "39dB" everywhere we looked, so we list it on its own. Our explainer on dBA covers what the A adds.
Two pages that disagree with their own spec tables
On two families, LG's own page copy and spec table give different numbers. The LDNTH753 and LDNPH753 pages list 42 dBA in the spec table, the name and the spec sheet, but the page copy says "The 41 dB cleaning cycle is whisper-quiet". The LDNPM654S lists 44 dBA in the spec table, name and spec sheet, but its copy says "The 46 dB cleaning cycle is whisper-quiet". We rank by the spec table, because it matches the spec sheet, and flag the gap. LG's dishwasher category page also says its dishwashers run "as quiet as 40 dB", while it lists models at 38 and 39.
Every LG with a finished door, quietest first
Prices are LG's own on October 4, 2026, shown as the sale price against the list price LG struck through. Stock flags on LG's site were inconsistent that day: some models showed in stock on the category listing and out of stock on their own page, so check before you plan around one. Color versions of one model share the figure.

The panel ready model and the dB-only model
LG sells one panel ready dishwasher, the LG STUDIO SDWD24P3. It lists "LoDecibel Quiet Operation: 45dBA" and was $1,199 on sale against $1,399. A custom panel adds mass to the door, and LG does not say whether its figure was taken with one fitted, so we keep it out of the ranking above.
The LG STUDIO SDNTHS72S, a FlushFit model with 16 place settings, lists "39dB" in its spec table and on its spec sheet, and its page says "With a whisper quiet 39 dB cleaning cycle, you can run the dishwasher whenever you want". With no A-weighting stated, we do not rank it against the dBA models, although it is likely the same kind of figure. It was $1,149 on sale against $1,549.
What changes between LG families
The figures follow LG's price ladder only loosely. The SIGNATURE and FlushFit models with TrueSteam sit at 38 to 42 dBA. The FlushFit models without TrueSteam sit at 44 and 46. The other top control families, with a pocket or curved bar handle, spread from 42 to 48 dBA, and TrueSteam alone does not put them at the low end: the LDTS5552 has it and lists 46. Every front control model lists 48 dBA or more, and the lowest priced front control family, the LDFC2423, lists 52 with no QuadWash and four wash cycles.
LG does not publish which parts make the difference, so we will not credit any one of them. Its spec tables do show one noise feature by name: "Tub Insulation (Damping Sheet, Sound Absorbing Material (felt), Base): Yes". It appears on models from 39 to 48 dBA, including the 48 dBA LDPN454HT, so insulation alone does not decide the figure.
LG's own quiet features
LG names three things. Its dishwasher category page says "LoDecibel technology and Inverter Direct Drive Motors ensure you get peak performance without the noise." The LDFN4542 manual credits the Inverter Direct Drive Motor with "whisper-quiet operation", among other things, and LG backs that motor for 10 years on every model we checked. The LDFN4542 pages say "An advanced 3-stage filtration system traps food particles to reduce noise & increase efficiency." These are LG's claims, and LG gives no figure for what each one contributes.
Two cycle features are easy to misread. The LG STUDIO SDWB24S3 manual lists a Night Care download cycle that "Quietly washes dishes overnight. Sleep soundly knowing dishes will be clean in the morning." LG gives it no figure. Night Dry, an option on many LG models, is a drying feature, not a quiet one: the manual says it "runs the ventilation fan periodically to help vent the steam from the tub." Delay Start is the surer way to move noise to a time when nobody is in the room.
You can quiet the beeps on some models. The LDFN4542 manual says "Button sounds can be turned off by pressing and holding Half Load for three seconds", and "The end of cycle chime and safety alert sounds will still sound."
Installation changes the noise
LG's LDFN4542 manual warns twice that a careless install adds noise. "Failure to level the dishwasher may result in leakage, problems closing the door, or noise." And for the lower cover: "Do not install cabinet baseboard as it may cause noise and leakage." The same manual says that "When water is drawn into the dishwasher, a whistling noise can be heard. This is normal." A 39 dBA model installed out of level may not sound like one.
What 38 to 52 dBA means in a kitchen
The decibel scale is logarithmic. Roughly every 10 dBA sounds twice as loud, so by LG's own figures the 39 dBA LDNTH862S would sound a little more than half as loud as a 46 dBA model, and the 52 dBA LDFC2423 well over twice as loud as the 38 dBA SIGNATURE. Our decibel chart puts those numbers next to everyday sounds. Small gaps add up in a room that opens onto the living space; our open kitchen guide covers that case across brands.
Prices on the day we checked
Almost every LG dishwasher was on sale on October 4, 2026, often by $400 to $550, and the sale prices reshape the value picture. The 39 dBA LDNTH862S cost $999, less than half the 38 dBA SIGNATURE. A 42 dBA FlushFit model cost $849, and a 46 dBA model $649. Under $600, the quietest LG figure was 48 dBA, from the LDFN4542 colors at $599 and the LDPN454HT at $549. If you are shopping in that range, our quietest dishwashers under $800 compares LG's budget models with other brands. Sale prices change, so check the exact model number and the price on the day you buy.
We did not measure any of these dishwashers. Every figure is LG's own, quoted as published on its US product pages, spec sheets and owner's manuals, and LG does not say which cycle or test standard its figures describe.
