Samsung puts a noise figure on every dishwasher it sells in the US, usually in the product name itself. On October 4, 2026, Samsung's US site listed 21 dishwashers, and their figures ran from 38 to 53 dBA. Twenty are 24 inch models and one is 18 inches wide.
This page lists all 21, quietest first, in two groups that should only be compared within themselves: 24 inch models and the 18 inch model. To see how Samsung's figures sit against other brands, see our quietest dishwashers guide; we do not rank other brands here.
Our picks are listed above, with full specifications for each.
How Samsung rates noise
Samsung uses more than one label, depending on the model family, but always an A-weighted decibel figure. Most product pages carry a "Silence Rating" row in dBA. The Bespoke DW90F89 models add a "Sound Rating (Decibels)" row with the same number. The newer DW90H89TET, the DW80CG5420SRAA and the DW70H83YEURAA use a "Noise Level (dB(A))" row instead, and the DW70H83YEURAA leaves the unit off its value, printing just "48", while its page title says "48 dBA". The spec sheets we opened print the figure again, as "Whisper Quiet 38 dBA Noise Level" on the DW90F89T0USRAA or "53 dBA Noise Level" on the DW80CG4021SRAA.
What Samsung never prints is the cycle, the distance or the test standard behind the number. The only condition we found is on the DW80B7070US/AA spec sheet, which footnotes "Whisper Quiet 42dBA operation" with "Based on internal testing. Results may vary depending on the actual usage conditions." The user manuals we read for each family give no noise figure at all. So a Samsung figure tells you how one Samsung compares with another, and much less about how it compares with a brand that tests differently. Our guide to comparing decibel ratings explains why that matters.
Because every label is Samsung's own A-weighted figure with no stated condition, we treat dBA and dB(A) here as one group and rank them together. Where a "Noise Level" model and a "Silence Rating" model share a number, we call it a tie.
Every 24 inch Samsung, quietest first

The 18 inch model
Samsung sells one 18 inch dishwasher, the DW50T6060US/AA. It lists "Silence Rating: 46 dBA" and "ADA Compliant: Yes", holds 8 place settings and was $809 on sale against $899. With nothing else from Samsung in this size, there is no ranking to do. Our 18 inch dishwasher guide covers compact models from other brands.
What changes between families
The pattern follows Samsung's price ladder. The Bespoke DW90F89 and DW90H89 models, with StormWash+ and a 3rd Rack Washing System, list 38. The StormWash+ DW80B707x family lists 42. The StormWash DW80CG545x family lists 46. Below that, the figures climb to 48, 51, 52 and 53.
Samsung does not publish which parts make the difference, so we will not credit any one of them. What its spec tables do show is the tub changing alongside the figure. Every model from 38 to 48 dBA lists a stainless tub ("STSS" or "Stainless Steel"), and so does the 52 dBA front control model. The two models at 51 and 53 dBA list "Hybrid Tub: Yes", with "Tub Material: Plastic (STS Door)". The drying system changes too: Smart Dry, which is fan assisted, on the 38 and 42 dBA models, AutoRelease door drying on the 46, 48 and 51 dBA models, and heated dry with a vent on the 53 dBA model.
Whisper Quiet, Ultra Quiet and Extra Quiet
Samsung attaches quiet labels to its models, and they do not line up with the figures the way the words suggest. On the pages we read, "Whisper Quiet" appears on the 38 and 42 dBA models and on the 46 dBA 18 inch model. "Ultra Quiet" appears on the 46 and 48 dBA StormWash models. "Extra Quiet" appears on the 51 and 53 dBA hybrid tub models, the loudest in the range. The DW80CG4021SRAA page even says "With an extra-quiet dishwasher, enjoy a peaceful kitchen". Read the dBA figure for the exact model number, not the label.
AutoRelease, Auto Open Door and the Night cycle
AutoRelease is a drying feature, not a noise one. The DW9000F manual says it lets you "set the dishwasher to open the door automatically at the end of the wash cycle for better drying results." Auto Open Door, on the handleless DW90F89P0USRAA, is different: you press the top of the door and it opens slightly, with a sensitivity setting of "Light pressure, Medium pressure, or Firm pressure."
The DW7000B and DW5000C families, which cover the 42 and 46 dBA models, list a Night cycle among the cycles you can download through the SmartThings app. Samsung's manual describes it this way: "Use this cycle for normal dishwashing after a meal. This cycle takes a longer time but less energy than the Normal cycle." Samsung does not say it is quieter and gives it no figure, so we would not count on it. LG offers a similar download, Night Care, on its LG STUDIO SDWB24S3, also with no figure; for every LG model's published figure, see our LG dishwasher decibels page. Delay Start is the surer way to move noise to a time when nobody is in the room.
You can also silence the beeps. The DW9000F manual lists a Volume setting with "Mute, Minimum, Normal or Maximum" on applicable models. On the StormWash+ and StormWash models, hold Sanitize and Delay Start for 3 seconds, then follow the manual: "To mute the dishwasher, select 'U0', and then press Delay Start."
Installation changes the noise
Samsung's own installation manual for the DW9000F models warns about noise three times. "Make sure the cabinet for the dishwasher is secured to the floor. If the cabinet is not secured, it may increase noise when the dishwasher is operating." The side gaskets go "13/16 to 1 inch inward from the front edge of the kitchen cabinet, as improper placement may increase noise during dishwasher operation." And when you adjust the height, the top gasket must sit "seamlessly underneath the top of the kitchen cabinet. Otherwise, it may increase noise when the dishwasher is operating." A 38 dBA model installed loosely may not sound like one.
What 38 to 53 dBA means in a kitchen
The decibel scale is logarithmic. Roughly every 10 dBA sounds twice as loud, so by Samsung's own figures a 38 dBA Bespoke would sound a little over half as loud as a 46 dBA StormWash model, and the 53 dBA DW80CG4021SRAA close to three times as loud as the 38. Our decibel chart puts those numbers next to everyday sounds. Small gaps add up: the four dBA between the 42 and 46 dBA families is easier to notice in an open plan room than the number suggests.
Prices on the day we checked
Almost every Samsung dishwasher was on sale on October 4, 2026, often by $300 to $400. That moves the value picture. A 38 dBA Bespoke cost $899, $100 more than the 42 dBA StormWash+, and a 46 dBA model cost $599, only $100 more than the 51 dBA hybrid tub model. If you are shopping in that range, our quietest dishwashers under $800 compares Samsung's budget models with other brands. Sale prices change, so check the exact model number and the price on the day you buy.
We did not measure any of these dishwashers. Every figure is Samsung's own, quoted as published on its US product pages and spec sheets, and Samsung does not say which cycle or test standard its figures describe.
