How loud is a Monogram dishwasher?
A current Monogram dishwasher lists 38 or 40 dBA on the Normal cycle, and the ZDT900 adds 37 dBA on its Quiet cycle. All four figures sit in the "Quiet Features" row of each spec table.
Normal cycle figures, quietest first:
- 38 dBA: ZDT900SSYSS, stainless, $2,500, and ZDT900SIYII, panel ready, $2,500.
- 40 dBA: ZDT800SSYSS, stainless, $2,200, and ZDT800SIYII, panel ready, $2,200.
Quiet cycle figure:
- 37 dBA: ZDT900SSYSS and ZDT900SIYII only.
The Quiet cycle number is a separate group. The ZDT800 lists no Quiet cycle among its seven cycles, so its 40 can only be compared with the ZDT900's 38.
Which Monogram dishwasher is the quietest?
The ZDT900 is the quietest Monogram dishwasher, at 38 dBA on Normal and 37 dBA on Quiet, sold as the stainless ZDT900SSYSS or the panel ready ZDT900SIYII for $2,500 each.
The two share a "900 Series" wash system with "90+ Water Jets with 6 Pressurized Wash Zones", a third rack with a wash manifold and a hard food disposer. The stainless model's figure is its own; the panel ready one borrows it.
Monogram lists the same three sound deadening rows for the ZDT800: "Mastic" door insulation, a "Variable Speed" motor, and "Bitumen + Full-wrap Blanket" as the outer wrap. Monogram does not say what makes the ZDT900 two dBA lower.
What does the 37 dBA Quiet cycle trade away?
Time, mostly. Monogram's owner's manual gives the ZDT900's Quiet cycle a time range of 3 hours 8 minutes to 6 hours 52 minutes, against 1 hour 47 minutes to 5 hours 37 minutes for Normal.
The manual describes it as an "ultra-quiet wash cycle capable of 37 dBA." It lists Quiet under Cycles Plus, with a footnote that these cycles "may only be accessible via a connected appliance through the SmartHQ App."
So the 37 may need the app, and it stretches the wash. Normal is the cycle the manual says "was used to rate the energy efficiency of this dishwasher", which makes its 38 dBA the everyday number.
Is Monogram the quietest dishwasher in the industry?
That is Monogram's claim, not a ranking we can make. The ZDT900 page calls it "the quietest dishwasher in the industry", based on "the Quiet Wash Cycle achieving 37dBA", as Monogram judged it on January 1, 2026.
Monogram defines the industry as "residential dishwashers sold in North America" and does not say how it compared them. Most dishwasher makers we have covered name no cycle at all, which makes a like for like check hard.
For a cross-brand comparison, the ZDT900's 38 dBA on Normal is the fairer figure to carry over. Our quietest dishwashers guide groups other brands' printed figures by kind.
What separates the ZDT900 from the ZDT800?
The wash system, third rack and cycle count separate the ZDT900 from the ZDT800, along with $300 and two dBA on Normal. Both have the same cabinet, insulation rows, Dual Dry system and 240 kWh a year.
- ZDT900: 90+ jets, 6 pressurized wash zones, third rack wash manifold, 10 cycles including Quiet and HydroSave.
- ZDT800: 70+ jets, 5 pressurized wash zones, removable full third rack, 7 cycles.
The stainless ZDT800SSYSS adds a "Cycle Status Bar on Door" to its control description. On either model, the manual says a light on the door front glows amber while washing and turns white when the cycle is complete.
No. Monogram says both panel ready figures come from the stainless versions: the ZDT900SIYII lists its 38 and 37 dBA "based on results from base model ZDT900SSYSS", and the ZDT800SIYII its 40 dBA "based on results from base model ZDT800SSYSS".
GE Appliances uses the same phrase on its own panel ready models, as our GE dishwasher page shows. A cabinet panel changes the door, and Monogram has not published a figure taken with one fitted.
The custom panel guide asks for a 3/4 inch panel 23 3/4 inches wide and says "total weight must not be more than 20 lbs", counting the panel plus two times the handle weight. Other makers' integrated models are in our panel ready dishwasher guide.
What does a Monogram dishwasher cost with a handle?
A stainless Monogram dishwasher costs at least $2,400 with a handle: $2,200 for the ZDT800SSYSS plus a $200 handle kit, or $2,700 for the ZDT900SSYSS. Monogram's spec tables mark the handle "Separate Purchase Required".
On November 4, 2026, Monogram listed these handles on its dishwasher page:
- $200: Minimalist Collection ZXADH1MNYSS or Statement Collection ZXADH1STYSS.
- $950: Designer Collection Brass ZXADTH1PVB1 or Titanium ZXADTH1PVT1.
- $50: ZXADIIY installation kit, needed for a Monogram handle on a panel ready model.
Panel ready buyers also need the cabinet panel itself, which is not included in the price.
Which Monogram dishwashers are discontinued?
Monogram's older ZDT985, ZDT925 and 18 inch ZDT165 dishwashers are discontinued; their pages read "This model is no longer being manufactured." None appears on Monogram's dishwasher listing, though the pages stay up with their specs.
- 39 dBA: ZDT985SSNSS, ZDT985SPNSS and panel ready ZDT985SINII, plus the older ZDT975 and ZDT870 series.
- 42 dBA: ZDT925SSNSS, ZDT925SPNSS and ZDT925SINII, plus the ZDT915 series and the older ZDT800SSFSS and ZDT800SPFSS.
- 46 dBA: the 18 inch ZDT165SSLSS and panel ready ZDT165SILII.
These figures sit in a "Quiet Package" row with no cycle named, so they do not line up with the new Normal and Quiet figures.
Monogram's current listing has no 18 inch model, although its dishwasher overview page still says its dishwashers "are available in two sizes to fit your design."
Is a ZDT800SSFSS the same as a ZDT800SSYSS?
No. The ZDT800SSFSS is an older, discontinued Monogram that lists "Quiet Package: 42 dBA", while the current ZDT800SSYSS lists 40 dBA on Normal. Check the letter after "SS" before trusting a retailer's figure.
The older panel ready ZDT800SIFII is a muddle of its own. Its spec table lists "Quiet Package: 40 dBA", but its key feature line reads "42 dBA with LED status indicator on door". We could not tell which Monogram meant, and since it is discontinued we leave it out of the ranking.
Why is my Monogram dishwasher making noise?
Monogram's owner's manual for the ZDT800 and ZDT900 lists several sounds as normal: the detergent cup opening, water coming in, a motor and spray arms that stop and start at various times, the drain pump, and the "Max Dry Fan". It says "These are all normal. No action is required."
Rattling usually comes from loading. Cutlery striking the inner door is one cause the manual gives, and another is "Rattling dishes when the spray arm rotates". It also says anything sticking down through a rack can stop the middle spray arm turning.
Installation matters too. Monogram's instructions say removing the rear insulation blanket for a shallow opening "may impact sound performance", and add "Tip: Reduce sound from under the dishwasher. Make sure toekick is against floor." Our dishwasher noise explainer covers sounds beyond that list.
Can you silence a Monogram dishwasher's beeps?
Only through the SmartHQ app. The manual says "Sounds can be muted via the SmartHQ App under product settings", and only with the dishwasher on WiFi and paired.
The dishwasher beeps for cycle completion, pad presses and an open door. The end of cycle signal is "beep twice", which the manual calls normal. A single beep each minute is a reminder that the door is open during a wash; it stops once you press START/CANCEL and shut the door within 4 seconds.
Is Monogram made by GE?
Yes. Monogram is a GE Appliances brand, and its owner's manual names the warrantor as "GE Appliances, a Haier company, Louisville, KY 40225".
Its older dishwashers used the same "Quiet Package" row as GE, GE Profile and Café. The 2026 ZDT800 and ZDT900 moved to a "Quiet Features" row that names the cycle, something the GE and Café spec tables we read in October did not do.
Monogram's models, prices and handles are its own, and its spec sheets and manuals are hosted on GE Appliances' servers.
